Leave the campsite and ride through the village of Rosário in the direction of Alandroal. At about 4 km (2.5 miles) outside the village you’ll come across a junction with a sign “Pego Longo”. Turn left and go on until the very end and the next junction. Turn left on the road ER255. The road meanders downhill with the fortifications of Terena in the distance. Continue to follow the tarmac and once you enter Terena, keep an eye open for a junction with a little park with some palm trees on your right hand side. Just across the street you’ll find the Café Frágas with veranda/terrace (time for a refreshment?). At the café turn left and make your way uphill until the junction at the cemetery wall, also the starting point of an 11 km (6.8 miles) walk (PR3) through the surrounding area. Park your bicycle and take a stroll through the village. Also take a peek at the castle. When you continue your trip keep on going straight, follow the tarmac with the graveyard wall on your left. After about 1.5 km (1 mile) you come across the Medieval chapel of N. Srª de Boa Nova (13th century). You can visit the church (ask for the key in one of the little houses across the street). After the chapel cross the irrigation canal and turn right. At the very end of the gravel road you will find yourself again on road ER255 at a junction with a little bridge on your left. Go across the bridge and at the next junction turn left and go on in the Ferreira and Montejuntos direction. In Ferreira continue until you find a sign, sending you left in the direction of Rosário. After going uphill and ‘conquering’ the crest, you will plunge into the Lucefécit valley (the stream that flows into the Alqueva dam, just in front of the campsite).
