ELECTRONIC TOLL
Circulation on some roads in Portugal is subject to an electronic toll system without the possibility of manual payment on site. All lanes with electronic toll only are properly identified in advance, through a signpost.

Payment systems for electronic toll roads
1. EASY TOLL
About: this system associates your bankcard to the vehicle’s license plate (accepted by Visa, Mastercard and Maestro). It's valid for 30 days and bebit the toll charges from your bank account.
Sign-up locations: machines located at 28 – Viana do Castelo Service Area, A24 – at 3.5 km from Chaves / Verin border, A25 – Alto de Leomil Service Area, A22 – next to Castro Marim / Ayamonte border.
Costs: sign-up cost – 0,74€, administrative cost – 0,32€ per journey.
2. TOLL CARD
About: pre-paid card valid for one year, with a fixed amount to be consumed depending on its usage. Activation and association with the vehicle’s license plate can be made by SMS or online.
Sign-up locations: online at www.ctt.pt, in post-offices and in the Service Areas marked on the map.
Costs: pre-load of 5€, 10€, 20€ or 40€, sign-up cost – 0,74€, administrative cost – 0,32€ per journey. Balance can be checked online.
