PLANTS AND FLOWERS OF ALENTEJO
The tipical landscape that you can observe around Camping Rosário is called "montado alentejano", an semi-natural open landscape tipical of the south of Portugal, characterized by the predominance of two types of trees, the cork and the holm oaks. The original woods of oaks were much denser than today and have been thinned out during the centuries to create pastures for livestock farming, intensive coltivation of cereals and olives groves.
The well-preserved montado and the olive groves possess a very rich sub-growth of shrubby and herbaceous plants.
