FISHING
The Great Lake of Alqueva has a huge fishing potential for carp, barbel, catfish, pike and black bass. With a shoreline of 1,160 kilometers, easily accessible from many sides, it’s a superb fishing spot. The lake has several marinas where you can rent a boat for those who like to fish from open water. Camping Rosário is located in close proximity to the shoreline where you will find many fishing spots immerse in a beautiful natural environment.
Fishing license: you will need a license for fresh water fishing in Portugal. Fishing licenses can be purchased at the ATM machine (Multibanco); if you are not Portuguese we can help you getting one at the dedicated office (price is 12 euros/year). You are not allowed to practice night fishing in Portugal.
Fishing calendar: in the following table the period when fishing is allowed (período de pesca) and the minimum dimension of caught fish (dimensão minima) are indicated for each species (source: Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests). In the closed season it is possible to fish as soon as you release the caught fish.
