2. The area of Redondo
In the area around Redondo, you can visit a number of well-preserved megalithic monuments, mainly dolmens.
Anta do Colmeeiro: megalithic monument composed of a polygonal chamber and a corridor. This monument is one of the best preserved of the county. Coordinates: 38° 41.557' N 7° 38.095' W
Anta das Casas Novas. Coordinates: 38° 41.029' N 7° 38.036' W
Anta da Vidigueira: classified as National Monument in 1910, the Anta da Vidigueira was erected between the IV millennium a.C. and III millennium a.C in a relatively isolated plain near the Freixo River. See walking trail N.11.
Anta da Candeeira: curious monument constituted by a poligonal chamber with a stone lid: the enigmatic "window" you can see in the wall is called "the soul hole", probably carved by a hermit living in the dolmen in the antiquity. The dolmen is classified National Monument since 1910. See walking trail N.12.
